The Camino Viejo de Candelaria was, and largely continues to be, one of the most important and symbolic communication routes between the capital and the southeast region.

This proposal runs through one of the best preserved parts between Barranco Hondo and Igueste de Candelaria, with interesting heritage and ethnographic samples, farms that saw the arrival of cereal, chives, even tobacco; settlements now empty but which are a hallmark of the municipality (Pasacola); spectacular hydraulic infrastructures that, like blood vessels, brought life to the parched southeast; neighborhoods that still preserve part of the essence of the effort and secular work to extract resources from a complex environment (Las Jiménez); roads and sidewalks in whose layout a territorial logic is recognized in tune with the rhythms and capacities of the natural environment.

The route also allows you to enjoy spectacular views of the Valley and Ladera de Güímar and the Pedro Gil ridge, a geological environment in which it enters through its eastern foothills.
